A new streaming service is gearing up to offer consumers healthcare and wellness videos, with a little assist from some healthcare notables.
The Able Channel, which offers a free preview of its original series “Surviving Suicide” Nov. 11, officially launches in 2021. The series profiles suicide survivors who went on to help others, and Cleveland Clinic doctors discuss signs and symptoms.
Other planned series will cover living well, cancer, the brain, aging, behavioral health, chronic illness, and disability.
One upcoming series will feature the Cleveland Clinic.
The service will also have “channel partners” in three categories: providers, insurers and healthcare content partners, which can distribute their own content through the service. The first hospital system channel partner is Ochsner Health.
Healthcare leaders serving on Able’s board include Dr. Toby Cosgrove, former Cleveland Clinic CEO; Maureen Schafer, former chief of staff at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas School of Medicine; and Dr. Sam Nussbaum, former medical director at Anthem and senior fellow at the University of Southern California Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics.
